November 1st 2025 — A Night Where History Met the Future
On 1 November 2025, the legendary electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre created a spectacle unlike anything seen before in the heart of Samarkand, one of the world’s most storied cities. Performing live at Registan Square, he transformed the ancient UNESCO World Heritage site into a breathtaking fusion of sound, light, and architecture.
Presented in collaboration with the Uzbekistan Culture Development Foundation, the one-night-only concert marked Jarre’s first-ever performance in Uzbekistan — a moment that resonated far beyond the city’s historic walls.
A Concert at the Crossroads of Civilizations
For centuries, Samarkand has been a symbol of connection — a meeting point on the ancient Silk Road where ideas, art, and culture converged. Surrounded by the majestic madrassas of Registan Square, Jarre’s music took on a new meaning: a dialogue between past and future, heritage and innovation.
“Samarkand has long been a crossroads of cultures. Performing at Registan Square is a unique honour, and I hope this concert reflects the spirit of exchange and creativity the city represents.”
— Jean-Michel Jarre
The concert coincided with the 43rd UNESCO General Conference, hosted in Samarkand — the first time in four decades that the conference took place outside Paris. The alignment of these two events underscored the city’s growing role as a global centre of dialogue and creativity.
